Interesting Facts

The Cavaliers have played football at CCHS since 1983. In that time they have had six head coaches. Coach Pratt, the current head man of the Cavaliers has coached the team since 1995. Following are some interesting facts concerning the history of the Crockett County football program:

first win: September 9, 1983, at McKenzie High School (29-6)

first win at Cavalier Stadium: September 16, 1983, versus Halls High School (24-22); Coach Ron Muhundro was carried off the field by his players in celebration of the first home victory.

first homecoming win: September 19, 1986, versus Gibson Co. (18-0)

first winning season: 1986 (8-3); West Tennessee Conference Champions

first playoff victory: Memphis Frayser (1st round); 40-21 at Cavalier Stadium on November 7, 1997. Was also first TSSAA playoff game in school history.

first TSSAA region championship: 2000, Region 6AAA; shared with Milan and Ja. Southside

longest losing streak: 26 games (1989 - 1992)

longest winning streak: 13 games (2003)

longest home winning streak: 30 games (2000-2004)

most points scored (single game): 65 points; versus Gibson Co. September 12, 2003.

lowest combined score: 2 points - October 21, 1983, versus Martin Westview; Westview scored the only points on a safety during the second quarter in a downpour at Cavalier Stadium.

greatest combined score: 83 points - September 29, 1995, in a loss to Humboldt.

TSSAA Championship appearances: 1 - 2001; Lost in AAA state championship to Knoxville Austin-East 21-27. Finished AAA state runner-up.

  • The Cavaliers have faced the Gibson County Pioneers every year since the school opened. The 2005 season was the first time these schools did not face each other since 1983. The Cavaliers hold a 12-10 series advantage.
